Steps to Make Iced Green Tea
Things you’ll need:
- Green tea– 2 or 3 tea bags (according to the strength you prefer)
- Mint leaves–¼ cup
- Water– 3 cups
- Lemon– 1 slice
- Ginger (sliced) –2 tablespoons
- Honey or agave syrup (vegan) – 2 tablespoons
- Ice cubes– as per your preference
Step 1. Boil water in a pan
Pour 3 cups of water into a small or medium-sized pot and bring it to a boil.
Step 2. Add ginger and tea bags
- Add 2 tablespoons of sliced ginger and 2 or 3 tea bags, depending on how strong you like your tea. Now, turn off the heat.
Ginger is not added before boiling to avoid the sting in its flavor. Keep it for 1 minute to allow the essence of the ginger and the green tea to steep the water. The texture will start to change and you’ll be able to smell the aroma of green tea.
Step 3. Add mint leaves
Then, add ¼ cup of mint leaves for a mint flavor in your tea.
Step 4. Cover the pan
Put a lid on the pan and leave it for about 10 to 15 minutes. In that time, the ingredients will infuse in the water to give you a refined taste.
Step 5. Strain the tea into a jar
Pour the contents of the pan into a jar using a strainer. Then, allow your tea to cool further.
Step 6. Put ice cubes in a shaker
In the meantime, put some ice cubes in a cocktail shaker or any other kind of shaker.
Step 7. Pour tea into the shaker
After the tea has cooled down substantially, pour it into the shaker with the ice.
Step 8. Add honey
To sweeten the tea, add 2 tablespoons of honey to the shaker. You can adjust the amount according to your personal preference. If you are a vegan, agave syrup would do the trick.
Step 9. Shake the tea
Close the lid of the shaker and shake the tea vigorously for 10 to 15 seconds. Stop when you see the froth building up.
Step 10. Garnish your tea with lemon slices and mint leaves
Pour the contents of the shaker into a serving jar. Add a lemon slice for a subtle tangy flavor and mint leaves as a garnish.
