Method 1: Using Vitamin E Oil and Coconut Oil
Things you’ll need:
- Vitamin E oil – ½ tablespoon
- Coconut oil – 2 tablespoons
Step 1. Combine vitamin E oil and coconut oil in a bowl
- Put 2 tablespoons of pure organic coconut oil in a bowl.
- Add ½ tablespoon of vitamin E oil to it.
- Stir the mix to blend the oils together.
Coconut oil is extremely hydrating and balances oil in the hair. It deals with the uneven moisture in the hair, thus taming the frizziness. Vitamin E oil is known for its healing properties when it comes to hair. It heals the damage in the hair shaft, allowing moisture to settle in evenly.
Step 2. Apply the blend in your hair
- Apply the oil blend in your hair with your fingertips.
- Work the oil into the hair from the roots to the tips.
If you have an oily scalp, you need not apply the oil blend on your scalp. Hydrating your hair should be enough to tame the frizziness.
Let it stay for 1 hour, then shampoo and condition as usual. You may even leave the oil blend in your hair overnight.
Do this once a week to make the frizz in your hair go away.
Method 2: Using Coconut Milk
Things you’ll need:
- Coconut milk
Step 1. Warm the coconut milk
Warm up some coconut milk in a microwave or over a stove. Be sure to keep the temperature of the coconut milk at par with your comfort level.
You can make some coconut milk at home or buy it from your nearest store. Coconut milk is extremely nourishing and hydrating, and helps balance the moisture in your hair.
Step 2. Apply the coconut milk in your hair
Test the temperature of the milk with your hands before applying it in your hair. Work the milk into your hair from the roots to the tips. Since your hair will be messy for a while, tie it in a knot at the top of your head.
Let the milk stay in your hair for 1 hour or more. You may even leave it overnight. Cover your head with a shower cap if doing so. Shampoo and condition as usual.
Repeat weekly for optimum results.
Method 3: Using an Avocado Mask
Things you’ll need:
- Avocado –1
- Coconut oil – 1 tablespoon
- Mayonnaise – 1 tablespoon
Step 1. Extract and mash the pulp of the avocado
Scoop out the pulp of an avocado with a spoon. Mash the pulp with a fork. Be sure to get a ripe avocado for this mask. Avocado possesses beneficial fatty acids that are good at taming frizzy hair.
Step 2. Add coconut oil and mayonnaise
- Add 1 tablespoon each of coconut oil and mayonnaise to the mashed avocado.
- Mix well to get an evenly textured paste.
The hydrating properties of coconut oil along with the nourishment provided by mayonnaise provide an excellent base for this hair mask. The components of mayonnaise provide fatty acids and vitamins that can make your hair glossy and full of bounce.
Step 3. Apply the mask in your hair with a hair dye brush
You may need a hair dye brush to apply this hair mask. If you aren’t afraid to get a little messy, use your hands instead.
Tie your hair in a topknot to reduce the mess. Leave the hair mask on for ½ hour before washing it off. Just shampoo and condition as you would normally do.
Repeat this method weekly for effective results.
Method 4: Using a Banana Mask
Things you’ll need:
- Banana – 1
- Yogurt – ¼ cup

Method 5: Using Apple Cider Vinegar
Things you’ll need:
- Apple cider vinegar
- Water
Step 1. Combine equal quantities of apple cider vinegar and water
- Combine equal quantities of apple cider vinegar and water in a mug or a jar.
The quantities should be determined based on the length of your hair. It’s important to dilute the vinegar with water before applying it in your hair.
Being acidic, apple cider vinegar effectively tames frizzy hair. As an added bonus, it gives your hair a healthy shine and makes it lively. Frizzy and limp hair will no longer be your pet peeves.
Step 2. Rinse your hair with the diluted vinegar
This is a post hair wash ritual. After shampooing, rinse your hair with the diluted apple cider vinegar. Let it stay in your hair for 2 to 3 minutes. If you’re in a shower, you can dedicate this time to your feet or you may belt out your favorite song. Rinse out the vinegar with plain water.
Do this weekly for best results.
Method 6: Using Carbonated Water
Things you’ll need:
- Non-flavored carbonated water
Step 1. Follow shampooing with a carbonated-water rinse
If you’re one of those who can’t stand the smell of apple cider vinegar, carbonated water might very well become your new best friend. Due to the presence of pressurized carbon dioxide gas, carbonated water is mildly acidic and thus helps tame the frizz in your hair.
After shampooing, rinse your hair with carbonated water. Let it stay in your hair for 2 to 3 minutes. Rinse it out with plain water.
You can do this each time you shampoo your hair. You’ll need to be a little patient as the results may take some time.

The lactic acid present in yogurt also helps combat the frizz in your hair. This egg and yogurt mask will deep condition your hair as well.
Step 3. Apply the hair mask
Use a hair dye brush to apply the hair mask. Leave it on for about ½ hour, then shampoo as usual. With eggs in the mix, you don’t even need to use your conditioner.
Do this weekly for effective results.
Method 8: Using Beer
Things you’ll need:
- Beer
Step 1. Rinse your hair with beer after shampooing
Beer for great hair is not just an old wives’ tale. The natural proteins and vitamins present in beer nourish the hair. Beer revives the hair’s moisture content as well. The darker the beer, the better it’s considered for hair.
Shampoo as usual, then rinse your hair with beer. Let it stay on for 2 to 3 minutes before rinsing it out with plain water.
A beer rinse can easily be made a post-shampoo ritual.
Additional Tips
- Wash your hair with cool to lukewarm water as opposed to hot water because heat usually worsens the problem.
- During hot and muggy weather, put away your flat iron as heating tools can make your frizziness worse. Refrain from using a blow dryer for the same reason. Let your hair dry naturally instead.
- When using a towel to dry your hair, pat it dry instead of rubbing it around in the towel. Rubbing irritates the hair shafts, making your hair frizzier. Use a wide-toothed comb to comb your hair dry.
- Hair products with strong smells or with alcohol can dry out your hair, make it frizzier.
- Start using a mild moisturizing shampoo that can easily hydrate your hair. Incorporate natural conditioners in your hair regime for a lasting effect.
