Do you love makeup, but the makeup does not love you back?

Be it a dash of ultra smooth face powder, rosy tinted lip gloss and blush or the deepest black kohl for those flattering eyes. If all these are part of your everyday morning ritual, you will agree that your beauty is consuming a lot from your bank account. Cosmetics are also loaded with various chemicals, and no matter how much they claim to be skin-friendly, it’s a faux mate!

These beauty products comprise harmful dyes, preservatives, and toxins that can damage your skin, cause cancer, and affect your endocrine system. Scary, right?

There are few brands that use skin-friendly and natural ingredients, but let’s not even start with the exorbitant price tags that they carry. However, you could make your own homemade makeup with natural ingredients.

intro make your own makeup

As daunting as it may sound, making your own makeup products is no rocket science. You do not need a degree in cosmetology. You may not be able to break into the beauty industry, or maybe one day you will. Good luck with that! But you certainly can save your skin from the harmful stuff.

Method 1: Homemade Foundation Powder

Foundation powder is the most elementary item in the world of makeup. It helps even out your skin tone and gives a flawless complexion. In this method, we have used arrowroot powder as the base and added cocoa powder and cinnamon for the tint. Cocoa powder helps repair skin damage while the cinnamon powder prevents acne.

  • Apply like a regular face powder using a soft makeup brush.

Note: If you want a compact foundation, add 5 to 10 drops of olive or almond oil to the mixture and press down into a compact.

If you have a sensitive skin, cinnamon can cause some redness. It is good to test the mixture on your arm before applying it on your face.

The shelf life of homemade foundation powder is 2 to 3 months.
