If we have said it once, we have said a thousand times - being a woman, isn’t easy! Nothing but “RESPECT” for women, who not only face challenges on an everyday basis, they actually SMILE their way through them. No, we are not overdoing it. We are just saying what has been said for ages, but rarely heard!

We may be called the “gentler sex,” but let’s be absolutely clear (if it isn’t already obvious!) - there is NOTHING gentle about us as people. We can also be tough and hardcore when the situation demands. Even the softest of us can stand her ground if need be. We are not fragile dolls!

Here is a list of things which are classic examples of “what doesn’t kill us, makes us stronger.”

1. The monthly visitor - Periods


Getting your periods is one of the most common experiences, but it doesn’t mean that it’s easy to deal with. Menstrual cramps, bloating, and period shaming are things we face every month as if they were nothing, not to mention the bucks we shell out every month because of it. Additionally, men have the audacity to complain about PMS. We admit that we may sometimes turn into grumpy cats every month, but it’s not like we enjoy it!


2. Popping out a human - Giving birth


So, ladies, there’s no harm in putting your guilt aside and admitting that you HATED giving birth. Of course, you love the little angel that popped out, but not necessarily what you had to endure to pop him out. You are pushing a human being out of your body, and no matter how many drugs you take, it is still going to hurt like hell.

3. Being made uncomfortable in your own body - Body-shaming

You are too short. You are too tall. You are too fat. You are too thin. You shouldn’t be wearing this.

We should love how our body is, and we don’t need anyone to tell us otherwise. It’s not just others who would body shame us, we ourselves are often guilty of it as well! Yes, sadly it is true. Every time you are comparing your body with someone else and feeling bad about yourself, you are body-shaming yourself!

4. Best kept secret - Facial Hair!


We know female beauty standards have evolved a lot recently, but one thing that still evades these standards is facial hair! Facial hair is like our secret. It’s a secret so shameful that not even our friends or lovers know about it.

We spend a lot of time and money ensuring that it remains a secret. Why? Just because of some standards set by society that women are not supposed to have facial hair? Well, newsflash: We did not ask for it, but we do sometimes end up with it.

5. Being made to feel like a single parent - Married, single mom

Our life often takes a drastic turn after we have children. Apart from the changes that our body undergoes, there are a lot of changes that we make in our life as well. Our sleeping pattern, our food, and almost everything is decided by the little toddler in our life.


But what adds to this stress is the unspoken rule that says that we accept all the responsibility to take care of the babies and toddlers alone. We love our precious little angels. But, what’s stopping men from helping us out more?

6. Sexual objectification - Catcalls


Often, we women are reduced to sexual objectification. It is more common than any of us would be comfortable in admitting it. “What’s up beautiful,” and “Hey! Sexy,” are some common comments. Even something seemingly as harmless as “Looking beautiful” can sometimes make us feel uncomfortable when it is said by some random passerby on the street.

We wonder how men would feel if the tables were turned.

7. Gender bias - Sexism

“So, what you mean to say is that just because he is a man, he can do it better?” This is what comes to our mind every time someone tries to tell us that we shouldn’t do a particular job or to let the men handle it. We are often paid less for the same job as compared to men.


We are constantly trying to prove that we are not weaker or inferior to the other gender.

8. Facepalm - “Mansplaining”


This can be very patronizing to us. We encounter “mansplanations” every day. We know, we know… there is no harm in men explaining things to us. However, it’s when they presume that we wouldn’t know what they are talking about simply because we are women or the “weaker sex.” Your mansplanations are just implications that we are ignorant and that you know the best.

9. Sky is apparently not the limit for us - Glass ceiling

The glass ceiling is also a form of gender discrimination. This is something that we face at work. Our career prospects are often in shadows. You know why? Because of this intangible, unbreachable barrier that prevents us from reaching the top positions at work.

Nevertheless, despite all that we face, we are fearless, female, and fabulous! Keep your heads up ladies. Let’s continue to show these guys how it’s done!
